With gratitude
Patron & supporters
The GMA is honoured by the support of our Patron and the leaders of the University of Western Australia.
Patron of the GMA
Michael Chaney AO
The GMA is amongst the strongest alumni associations at The University of WA. Over more than 50 years it has provided a wide range of events and gatherings which have allowed graduates to reunite with colleagues, rekindle old friendships and enjoy the professional benefits of networking.
Its importance, however, extends well beyond these activities. The GMA gives graduates an enduring sense of belonging to the University and provides a means through which the experience, influence and goodwill of its members can benefit students, the Business School and the wider community. Its impact is reflected in the relationships it sustains and the contribution its members continue to make.
I am proud to serve as Patron and strongly support the GMA as it builds on this legacy in the years ahead.
Mr Chaney established The Professor André Morkel Award in recognition of the mentor who shaped his own approach to leadership. It is presented annually at the GMA Black Tie.
University leadership
In support of the GMA
UWA's relationship with its graduates is one of the University's greatest strengths. In particular, our post graduate business school alumni bring extraordinary experience, leadership and connection back into the life of the University. And I have seen the active support they give one another throughout their careers fostering lifetime links with each other and the Business School. The Graduate Management Association is an important part of UWA's future success strengthening our place in the business community and directly enriching the post graduate programs.
Diane Smith-Gander AO
Chancellor, The University of Western Australia
As Dean of the UWA Business School, I am proud of the Graduate Management Association's longstanding contribution to our postgraduate community. Supported by distinguished alumni and leaders such as Michael Chaney AO, Chancellor Emeritus of UWA, the MBA program has helped shape generations of business professionals. The GMA plays an important role in enhancing the MBA experience by fostering meaningful connections between students, alumni and industry, while strengthening a sense of belonging that extends well beyond graduation. Through initiatives such as the MBA Lifelong Learning Program and joint events delivered in partnership with the Business School, the GMA enables alumni to remain engaged, connected and learning throughout their careers. I strongly endorse its future and the value it brings to our community.
Professor Peter Robertson
Dean, UWA Business School
Strong alumni communities are built on meaningful relationships, shared experiences, and a sense of belonging that extends well beyond graduation.
UWA’s Graduate Management Association nurtures and builds these connections, by bringing graduates together and fostering lifelong engagement with our Business School and UWA.
As Chief Advancement Officer, and a Business School graduate, I am delighted to support the partnership between UWA and the GMA, which reflects our shared commitment to an engaged and thriving alumni community.
I want to thank and recognise all GMA Committee members (past, present, and future) for their extraordinary volunteer commitment and the invaluable contribution they have made to their alumni community. Throughout the years, they have demonstrated an unwavering dedication to fostering engagement, building enduring relationships, and supporting graduates to maintain a lifelong connection with each other, the Business School, and the University.
